Large Magic Slip Tool
Our Large Magic Slip Tool has a longer, tapered, flexible end that drags across the slip in a way that doesn't "dig" into the surface of your work below the slip. The tapered tip allows you to pin-point where you're going to make your mark while the wider part of the tool pushes the slip to the side so it gathers thick at the edge.
One of Tom's techniques with this tool is to mix up the Magic Slip so it's super thick. He'll trim a tea bowl (with a thicker foot so you can hold onto it without distorting the foot). He'll dip the tea bowl upside down into the thick slip. Then, he takes a chip brush and pushes some of the thick slip back into the bucket (leaving some areas with the super thick slip). He then places the tea bowl back onto the wheel head on it's foot and turns the wheel on slow. He takes the point of the tool and lets it make a mark into the slip horizontally around.
