5 lbs. Ocean Bubble Glaze Cone 10 reduction (Dry Material)
Description: Ocean Blue Bubble is a translucent glaze. It's an excellent "liner" glaze for functional ware and shows details with slip decoration and carving. This glaze also looks beautiful when applied over Amy's CeraMist Underglazes. (Zach's Black in these images). This glaze is not in Tom's glaze book.
Important Note: This is a "translucent" glaze. Which means it's color will be influenced by the color of the clay body it's on. These images show the glaze on a cone 10 porcelain which is a white clay body. If you put it onto BMix or another less-white clay body it won't be the same brilliant color.
Mixing: One 5 lb. order equals about 1 gallon of glaze with water added. Add water and screen 2 times through an 80 mesh screen. 52-54 on a hydrometer.
Application: Dip or Spray. When dipping try a count of 6. It's better with a bit thicker application. You'll know if it's a good thickness if it shows just a few, tiny, little cracks in the glaze when it's bone dry. Stable at cone 10 reduction.
Firing: Cone 10 reduction.
Important Note: Remember to run a few tests before applying any unfamiliar slip or glaze to lots of work. Take notes. Find the correct application for your work with the way your kiln is being fired.
