Brass ReCurve Rib
Description: A Brass Rib on a smooth throwing clay body creates the nicest surface. Brass on porcelain has a reverse polarity effect where it pushes the porcelain down to compress the particles even closer. The tighter the particles in the body the better the surface is under a glaze.
Details: This templet was taken from a Tom Coleman rib and created in brass. It's what's called a "cutting" rib and it's shape happened from years of Tom using this rib. These images show how Tom uses the ReCurve Rib to create forms. Including the classic bamboo or accordion design.
