5 lbs. Moonstone Bubble Glaze Cone 10 Reduction
Description: Moonstone Bubble is a translucent, micro-bubble glaze with an soft, blue haze to its color. It's an excellent "liner" glaze for functional ware and shows details with slip decoration and carving.
Important Note: This is a "translucent" glaze. Which means it's color will be influenced by the color of the clay body it's on. These images show the glaze on a cone 10 porcelain which is a white clay body. If you put it onto BMix or another less-white clay body it won't be the same, brilliant color.
Mixing: One 5 lb. order equals about 1 gallon of glaze with water added. Add water and screen 2 times through an 80 mesh screen.52-54 on your hydrometer.
Application: Dip or Spray. It's better with a bit thicker application. Stable at cone 10 reduction.
Firing: Cone 10 reduction.
Food Safe Application Instructions: This glaze is stable over Coleman Porcelain when fired to cone 10 reduction. If you apply it to other clay bodies you'll want to wait a couple of days after it's come out of a glaze firing and check to see if it has any tiny little cracks in the glaze which indicate this glaze doesn't "fit" the clay body. It there are no "crazed" cracks in the surface of the glaze it's food safe. And, you can email me with questions at firstname.lastname@example.org
Important Note: Remember to run a few tests before applying any unfamiliar slip orglaze to lots of work. Take notes. Find the correct application for your work with the way your kiln is being fired.
