5 lbs. Mint Crystal Glaze Cone 10 Oxidation
Description: This is an easy crystal glaze to achieve. The crystals are created by mesquite ash in the glaze so the glazes are food safe.
Mixing: One order equals 5 lbs. of dry material and creates about 1 gallon of liquid glaze. Add water and screen once thru an 80 mesh screen. You'll want to have a reading of 52-54 on the hydrometer.
Application: This glaze can be dipped or sprayed.
Firing: Just set it for a normal pre-heat to make sure the moisture is out of the glaze. Then, set your electric kiln for cone 10. Fast or Medium speed. No ramping or special techniques needed.
Image Info: These images show this glaze on cone 10 porcelain. And, in one of the images, it's shown on a stoneware body.
Note 1: Also works well when applied over the Black Ox Slip. Be sure to apply the slip first and bisque fire it on to cone 08 before dipping or spraying on any of the crystal glazes.
Note 2: Remember to run a few tests before applying any unfamiliar slip or glaze to lots of work. Take notes. Find the correct application for your work with the way your kiln is being fired.
