5 lbs. Crawl Bead Glaze Cone 10 Reduction
Description: This glaze has an excellent bead-texture. We've used it successfully on Sonora White that was bisque fired to cone 06.
Mixing: We mix it thick (like mud). And, we have not needed to screen it as long as it's blended good with a mixer.
Application: We've been dipping the bisque-fired stoneware into the Crawl Bead "mud" and letting it sit for a day or two before loading it in the kiln. We want to let it dry and the cracks to develop. If it sticks - it gets loaded into the kiln. The bead itself seems to be tack-welding itself to the grog in the clay body (which is why it doesn't work on a smooth, grog-free body).
Firing: Cone 10
Important Note: Remember to run a few tests before applying any unfamiliar slip or glaze to lots of work. Take notes. Find the correct application for your work with the way your kiln is being fired.
