5 lbs. Crawl Bead Glaze Cone 10 Reduction and Oxidation (Dry Material)
Description: This glaze has an excellent bead-texture that is White. In reduction it keeps it's bead-like texture and shape. In an electric kiln it will maintain the bead like texture at cone 6. At cone 10 in an electric kiln it flattens out a bit without much texture. And, over Black Magic Slip it get's an awesome texture to it (as seen in the lighter blue tests to the right).
Mixing: We mix it to a medium/thin consistency. A hydrometer reading of 50 - 55 works well.
Application: We've been dipping the bisque-fired stoneware or porcelain into the Crawl Bead and letting it sit for a day or two before loading it in the kiln. We want to let it dry and the cracks to develop. If it sticks - it gets loaded into the kiln.
Another application option: You can bisque on a colored slip to cone 08. Then, dip into the Pearl Bead.
Firing: Cone 10
Important Note: Remember to run a few tests before applying any unfamiliar slip or glaze to lots of work. Take notes. Find the correct application for your work with the way your kiln is being fired.
