Riverstone Matt Glaze (Purple) Cone 10 Reduction
Description: The Riverstone Matt Glaze Series are perfect for the outside of functional wares. And, perfect for sculpture work. The Riverstone Purple Glaze has an extra quality that I love. It develops iron crystals.
Mixing: Add water and mix well. Do not screen. It has Iron Crystals in it. Have it at 40-45 on a hydrometer.
Application: Stir often to keep this glaze suspended right before dipping your work. This way the iron crystals won't settle to the bottom. With functional ware we first roll the inside of a cup or bowl in a food-safe liner glaze. On this cup I rolled the inside with our True Colors: White Glaze (no-craze white). Then, I dipped the cup into the Riverstone Purple Glaze with the bottom of the cup going in first. I dipped it all the way down slowly until the glaze came up to where it just met the top line of the rim/liner glaze. Then, back out of the glaze.
Firing: Cone 10 reduction.
Note: As with any unfamiliar slip or glaze be sure to test before you do a lot of work. Keep good notes. email me with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org
