COLOR Wash (under Amy's Ash Glaze)
Description: Our Washes are powerful in color. A little goes a long way. One order equals 1 lb. of dry Color Wash. Most of this Wash is pure, encapsulated pigment that's meant to release at a high-fire temp. This keeps it's pigment bright in the higher temperatures. Therefore, it's a more expensive item for us to provide. We've made it available if you want brilliant color for Ash Glaze. These Washes can also be used in oxidation cone 6 - 10.
Mixing: add a bit of water and make it slightly thin. 40 on the hydrometer. Screen with an 80 mesh screen.
Application: Spray onto greenware (along with other color slips and washes for colorful effects under Ash Glaze). Bisque fire on. Then, spray (or dip) Ash Glaze.
Firing: Cone 10 reduction (with Ash Glaze). OR, cone 6 - cone 10 in Oxidation firing with other glazes on top. Including a clear glaze, etc.
Note: Be sure to test any unfamiliar slips, washes or glazes before applying to a lot of important work. Take notes.
