5 lbs. (Dry) Mint Crystal Glaze Cone 10 Oxidation
Description: One of the easiest crystal glazes to use. Food safe and stable at cone 10 oxidation. Set the kiln for cone 10 (no soak necessary). Shown on porcelain.
Mixing: Add water and mix really well with a paddle mixer on a drill. It works well at 50 on the hydrometer.
Application: This glaze can be dipped or sprayed. A medium thickness is ideal. We bisque fire our porcelain work to cone 08. If you bisque fire hotter (which isn't necessary for porcelain) it will change how well a glaze absorbs into the bisque. Do a few tests before you apply any unfamiliar slip or glaze to important work.
Firing: Cone 10 Oxidation.
Important Note: This glaze will not mature and form crystals if your kiln doesn't go to cone 10 when you fire. PLEASE place Large Self-Supporting Cone 10 Cones into your kiln when it fires so you can see for sure if your kiln is reaching temperature. A small cone 10 bar in a kiln sitting trips too early. It's best to have a Self-Supporting Cone 10 Witness Cone in set inside of the center spy hole of your kiln so you can see if you've reached cone 10 before turning off your kiln.
