5 lbs. Cabat Turquoise Satin-Matt Glaze. Cone 10 ox (Dry Material)
Description: This turquoise glaze reminds us of Rose Cabat's "Feelies" A velvety, brilliant surface. This glaze is best on the outside of a cup or bowl and we recommend using a celadon type glaze for the liner glaze where your pottery comes into contact with food. We have a new Spring Celadon for cone 10 oxidation we'll be testing as a liner for this glaze in the next firing. This glaze is not in Tom's glaze book.
Mixing: Add water and screen 2 times thru an 80 mesh screen. You'll want this to be about 40 - 42 on a hydrometer.
Application: One dip gave us the lighter green (at the bottom). The second quick dip was half way down the test tube. Then, the third quick dip was on the top rim. It shifted to give us the brighter turquoise where it's a bit thicker to the bright green where it's applied thinner.
Firing: Cone 10 in an electric kiln (oxidation).
Note: Remember to always test any unfamiliar slip or glaze on test work and wait before you put anything unfamiliar onto any important work.
