5 lbs. Revised Yana Glaze Cone 10 Reduction
Description: This glaze will break into crystal formations in some hot, reduction firings in brick kilns. It works well with our Copper Wash sprayed into it. It likes cone 11 to cone 12.
Mixing: add water and screen once thru a 60 mesh screen. Let sit overnight to hydrate. You'll want to have this at 50-52 on a hydrometer.
Application: We're applying this glaze to Coleman Porcelain that has been bisque fired to cone 08. We get the best results when it's dipped a bit "fat". Count to 4. Works well over Black Magic Slip, too.
Firing: Hot, reduction. It likes a hot cone 11.
Special Note: Please be sure to test any new slips and glazes before putting them onto important work. Everyone applies materials a little differently. And, kilns are different and, everyone fires their kilns their own way. You'll want to test any new materials to see how they work with your personal creating and firing circumstances.
Images: White Vase: On it's own over Coleman Porcelain. Pink Lid and Red Bowl: has Copper Wash Sprayed into it (aerosol). Dark Bowl: Over Black Magic Slip (which was first applied to greenware and bisque fired on to cone 08 before dipping into Revised Yana glaze). Copper Wash (aerosol) was sprayed into the Revised Yana after it was dipped).
Special Note: Be sure to test any unfamiliar slip or glaze before applying to important work. Everyone applies glazes differently and fires their kilns differently. Be sure to test any new products to see how they will work for your professional, creative circumstances.
