2 lb. No-Bisque Color Slips! Cone 6-10 (dry material)
Description: Bold, brilliant color from color slips transforms your current glaze pallet from behind. This slip has a full range of applications and works with glazes from cone 6 to cone 10, electric, gas and propane kilns. This slip comes in 5 colors and white (great over darker clay bodies). We recommend having it under copper reds, purples, chun and rutile glazes. Clear, translucent glazes and celadons. Any glaze that's slightly revealing will be influenced from the color slip behind the glaze. We've even had this color slip behind Shino, or a thin application of tenmoku: over the red or orange slip. A thin to medium application of Oil Bloom Glaze over the top is also a nice effect.
Mixing: Add water and screen twice thru an 80 mesh screen. 42 on a hydrometer to dip.
Application: Apply to leather hard, bone dry greenware or bisque ware by dipping it a bit thinner. Just be sure to scrape down any drips. This slip can also be applied with a brush. It can be used for sgraffito and mishima. This slip can be bisque fired on. Or, dip or spray applied (thin) to bisque ware, let it dry, and dip or spray glaze over the top and fire to your preferred glaze temperature.
Firing: Cone 6 to cone 10. In an electric kiln or gas, propane kilns.
Special Note: Be sure to test any unfamiliar slip or glaze before applying it to more important work. Test to develop your way of working, application and firing.
