CeraMist Blue Underglaze (Aerosol) Cone 6-10
Description: Add color to your existing glazes from underneath by spraying on a color slip/underglaze. There are no CFC's in this aerosol. We've simply taken the idea of spraying paint and applied it to slips and glazes.
Note: Just like spraying paint - use an OSHA approved particle/vapor mask or respirator P-100. And, a Water Back Spray Booth. This is the best way to spray any slips, glazes or paints from any type of paint sprayer or airbrush tool.
Please read the directions and ProTips (like having the can in warm water while you're working so they don't freeze up).
Application: Spray it onto wet ware to leather hard. Or, apply it to bisque ware, let it dry, and dip or spray glazes over the top. Then, fire to temperature. This works well from cone 6 to cone 10 in an electric kiln and reduction.
1) Shake Well. We recommend using a Spray Can Handle available at hardware stores
2) Bisque Temperature: We want the body to still be absorbent if you're spraying, dipping, painting, etc. For so many reasons - You should NOT be bisque firing to cone 04. It's too hot. You're closing off the clay body. Porcelain: bisque to cone 08. All other bodies can be bisque fired to cone 06. There's only a few super-rugged stoneware bodies that have a lot of organic matter in them that need to be bisque fired to cone 04 to get rid of pin holes.
3) Directions located in the images above, And, they will come with your order. I have a video on my facebook page at Amy Kline. And, my Instagram is @kline.glazes
4) Just like spray paint - clean out the nozzle with warm water before storing for any length of time. All tips will clog if you don't clean them.
Special Note: OSHA approved dust mask P-100 Available online. I wear it for all of my mixing now instead of the N-95.
Image: Show's Amy's Color Box choices of no-bisque CeraMist Aerosols under a revealing Chun Glaze. Some of them are fired to cone 6, some to 10 and some in reduction. The colors are great in all types of firing. We've just starting to explore the possibilities!
