16 oz. COLOR Underglazes Cone 6-10 (Liquid)
Description: The same great color Tom Coleman uses on his awesome platters. These underglazes work on just thrown work, leather hard, bone dry and over bisque ware. On 3/17/21 Tom Coleman takes us through all the different ways this colorful underglaze can be applied to achieve a colorful composition.
Details: Works on most clay bodies and fires from cone 6 to come 10. Available in vibrant colors just like Velvet Underglazes at half the price! Once they dry you can apply your favorite glazes.
Applications: These Slips/Underglazes can be applied to wet, leather, bone dry (spray) and bisque fired on. Or, brushed and sprayed onto bisque ware. Allow to dry, then dip into a glaze and fire. (see below and on jar directions).
Thick Application: to work that's just thrown: It works well applied thick on wet clay. I like to use this slip thick and apply it to clay work I've just thrown and draw into it with slip tools. We also recommend leaving them thick and putting them into a decorating bottle for thin, raised up lines of color. Once it's firmed up it's pretty tough and I can then trim the pot, etc.
Medium Application: to work just thrown or leather wet/hard: Add a bit of water to them and spray them, dip them or brush them on.
Thin Application: to bone dry or work that's been bisque fired: (porcelain cone 010, b-mix cone 08, stoneware cone 06): Spray onto bisque ware. Or, thin brushwork onto bisque ware. Allow to dry and apply glaze directly over this underglaze.
Firing: They work from Cone 6 to cone 10 in oxidation and reduction.
