Description: This is a glaze Tom Coleman created as a functional ware glaze that's perfect for decorating with other glazes, brushwork of oxides and washes and over glazes. It serves as a Functional White Glaze to decorate over. This formula has changed over the years to make it more brush-work friendly, with a satin-white finish when fired to cone 10.
Mixing: Add water and screen twice through an 80 mesh screen. It works great at 40 on a hydrometer.
Application: For decorating we recommend dipping (try to get all of the bubbles off of the top before dipping). We mix it at least 24 hours before we plan to use it to give the ingredients a chance to hydrate.
Firing: Come 10 Reduction or in an electric kiln to cone 10.
