Live Porcelain Workshop with Tom Coleman (50% deposit)
Description: The Coleman School of Porcelain is located in Henderson, NV.
Professional Background: Tom Coleman has made a 50 plus year career out of his artwork in porcelain. From creating the most used porcelain body amongst hobby and professional potters (Coleman Porcelain), along with 3 published glaze books with numerous glaze formulas. These glazes are also used by potters around the world.
All About Porcelain takes place on the potters' wheel with Tom Coleman. This way, Tom will have a chance to work with each of you and your skills throwing porcelain on the potters' wheel. Porcelain isn't difficult, you just need to work with it differently than you work with stoneware or bmix.
Porcelain: Just know, "real porcelain" is as close to working with glass as you can get without blowing glass. The higher the temp, the better the melt! If you've always loved the way Tom's glazes are on his body of work, learn how and why his glazes are so luminous directly from him.
Requirement to participate: Be able to center and pull a 6" cylinder from 2 lbs. in BMix, porcelain or a stoneware body. We don't expect you to be great at throwing porcelain to attend his workshop. But, we need to weed out the hand-builders who want to "learn how the throw" from Tom. Lol. Yes, this has happened before.
Images of your work: Send us images of your work when you get a chance. email@example.com
Dates: December 7-11th. This class starts at 8:00 am each day and wraps up at 4:00 pm. On the Friday night of the workshop we'll have a dinner party for the participants with a tour of their home and gallery. If you're coming from out of town we'll send you a list of places to stay nearby.
Balance of $775.00 is due the week of the workshop.
This class includes 25# of Porcelain and a bisque firing for the work you've thrown during his workshop. We'll have coffee and something yummy cooked by Elaine in the mornings. We have a fridge for people to bring their lunch, or participants will head out for lunch. The balance for this workshop is due the week of the workshop.
Special Note: You're welcome to bring more Coleman Porcelain with you if you'd like to throw larger work on the wheel while having instruction from Tom.
