Porcelain Workshop with Tom & Elaine Coleman June 8-11th (50% deposit)
Description: The Coleman School of Porcelain is located in Henderson, NV.
All About Porcelain takes place on the potters' wheels with Tom Coleman while Elaine designs and shares her Incising techniques with us for participants interested in learning how Elaine creates her work. Amy Kline is also at the workshop sharing her skills of designing around the form.
Details: Limited to 7 participants, Tom and Elaine are able to work more directly with you and your skill level to help you take the next step forward with your work. Porcelain isn't difficult, you just need to work with it differently than you work with stoneware or Bmix.
Porcelain: "real porcelain" is as close to working with glass as you can get without blowing glass. The higher the temp, the better the melt. If you've always loved Tom's glazes, learn directly from him how to work in porcelain to get similar results.
Requirement to participate: Be able to center and pull a 6" cylinder from about 2 lbs. in BMix, porcelain, or stoneware. We don't expect you to be great at throwing porcelain to attend this workshop. But, we need to make sure you have enough time at the wheel to center, pull up the material, and trim your work. Amy is there to work with you to fine-tune your throwing skills. All skill levels beyond that are great for Tom to help you go even further with your work!
Dates: June 8-11th
