3 lbs. Shell Glaze Wash (dry material)
Description: It takes just 1 rotation spray of this beautiful, fluxing wash over a matt glaze to see what kind of effects it'll create. (works really well over Amy's Yana Glaze). It's worth testing to see how it fluxes out your matt glazes.
Mixing: Add water, use a mixer, and screen twice thru an 80 mesh screen. You'll want this a little thinner. 38-40 on a hydrometer.
Application: A little goes a long way. (lol). I've ruined a lot of pots with testing this glaze. Please think of this as a Fluxing Wash and spray it lightly into matt glazes toward the top part of your work until you understand how it works.
Firing: It works from cone 6 - 10 in a gas kiln and an electric kiln.
Images shown:
Mug with Black Magic Slip (sprayed and bisque-fired on to cone 010), Amy's Yana Glaze (dipped or sprayed), and 1 roatation spray of Shell Wash.
Vase and Sake Cup: Amy's Yana glaze with She;; sprayed. Note: I had to wad the feet and it was still a lot of clan up after. My next step is to lighten up on the shell application, and design the work to "catch" the glaze run-off. It's a worthwhile application to work with.
