5 lbs. Shino Crawl Bump (Dry Material)
Description: As shown on Tom Coleman's work and in his workshops.
This bump-glaze goes onto clay work that's been bisque fired at either cone 010, or 08. Remember, you want this to absorb into the (still porous) bisqueware so it hangs on enough to get it into the kiln to bring it to cone 10. Works in reduction and in an electric kiln fired to cone 10.
Mix: Add water and screen 2 times through an 80m mesh screen. Have it at 42 on the hydrometer.
Application: apply to bisque ware fired to cone 010, or cone 08. Dip, or spray. Remember to test on something not important until you get an idea how it's going to turn out on your clay body, fired in your kiln, etc.
Firing: Cone 10 Reduction, and cone 10 in electric.
Images: Show here on Dark Star Stoneware, and on Coleman Porcelain.
